In January of 2011, Colorado formed the first affiliate state organization, the Western Dressage Association® of Colorado (WDACO.) The WDACO welcomes all breeds to participate in our events. If your horse can walk and trot, there is a place for him within the Western Dressage Association® of Colorado Club.
The mission of the Western Dressage Association® of Colorado is to build an equine community that combines the Western traditions of horse and rider with Classical Dressage. In doing this it will provide an educational and competitive environment which is accessible to all Colorado riders and horses.
The WDACO will offer educational opportunities to inspire and enlighten western riders and their horses to a higher level of horsemanship and partnership through the use of dressage. We will work with the national organization to create an educational environment and competitive format within the horse industry for the Western Dressage horse and rider. Western Dressage helps a rider to improve the horse’s balance, cadence and carriage. Whether your horse competes in reining, roping, cutting, western pleasure, or enjoys the trail with you, using dressage will improve your partnership and keep your horse happier and sound far longer than he would otherwise be.
In keeping with our mission, the WDACO offers clinics to introduce Western Dressage to riders that are new to the discipline as well as those looking to improve their competitive edge. Clinic locations and events are added throughout the year. Stay informed by adding your name to our email list and visiting the website calendar often.
