WDACO High Point Plus Program
WHAT: This exciting program allows riders to earn points for Western Dressage test scores earned at WDACO High Point qualified shows and qualified Ride-A-Test Clinics, to compete for end-of-the-year awards. Additional prizes may be awarded for other fun categories.
WHEN: The program runs from January 1st through December 30th. All scores must be submitted to WDACO by November 30th. In the event of a December show, test scores must be submitted within 10 days of the close of the show.
WHO: WDACO members interested in gauging their progress through the dressage levels and enjoying some friendly competition. In other words, YOU!
HOW DO I ENROLL: Enroll online and pay using Paypal or download an enrollment form and mail it with a check to WDACO-High Point, P. O. Box 476, Castle Rock, CO 80104.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST: $50. This includes registration and unlimited submissions of test scores.
WHAT SHOWS: Look on the WDACO calendar for shows that are listed as High Point Qualified* Shows, such as our Annual Summer Sizzler Shows, Qualified Virtual Shows, or Ride-A-Test Clinics. You may also click on the button above that says “WDACO High Point Shows” for a list of shows that starts in Spring and continue through the year.
*Judges for Qualified shows or Ride-A-Tests must hold licenses in Western Dressage from the United States Equestrian Federation. Intro through Level 1, and Rail Classes may be judged by an (“r”) qualified judge. Intro through Level 5, Rail, and Freestyle Classes may be judged by an (“R”) judge.
AGAIN THIS YEAR: We will accept scores from the WDAA Western Dressage Association of America (WDAA) World Show.
AGAIN THIS YEAR: We will accept up to 2 scores from virtual shows as long as they meet the criteria described above; this includes scores from the WDAA World Show if it is virtual. OR we will accept scores from one qualified virtual show and one qualified Ride-A-Test. Scoring for Ride-A-Test must be completed BEFORE any comments or instruction from the judge.
HOW MANY TESTS AND SHOWS: To qualify for end-of-year awards, each rider and horse team must submit at least 5 tests from 3 different shows that were judged by at least 2 different judges.
HOW DO I SUBMIT SCORES: Scores may be submitted after the completion of each High Point Qualifying show and NOT LATER THAN NOVEMBER 30TH. For any High Point Qualifying shows held in December, scores must be submitted no more than 10 days after the close of the show. To submit scores, send us a copy of the back of any dressage test you want to submit. You can submit it using the “Submit test scores” form and upload a picture of the test, or you can scan it and email it to wdacopointsprogram@wdaco.org or copy and mail it to WDACO-Hight Point, P. O. Box 476, Castle Rock, CO 80104. Make sure the back of each test includes:
- Test ridden (e.g. WDAA Basic Level Test 3 – Amateur)
- Judge’s signature
- Date of show
- Your Name
- Your horse’s name (the name you showed under)
- Final score points and percentage
- NOTE: You do not need to submit the part of the test score sheet containing comments or individual movement scores
Five test scores from 3 different shows judged by at least 2 different judges are the minimum requirement. You may submit as many tests as you like; only your top 5 scores will count toward awards.
HOW MANY HORSES CAN I RIDE AND IN HOW MANY LEVELS CAN I COMPETE: You can enter as many rider and horse combinations as you would like. Each pair requires a separate enrollment. Each rider and horse combination can enter two consecutive levels (e.g., If you have a horse that is transitioning from Intro to Basic, you and the horse may choose to enter the High Point program as a team at both levels with one entry form per show.) A horse may be ridden by more than one rider, but each rider and horse pair must enroll in the High Point program separately.
WHO WILL I BE COMPETING AGAINST: You will be competing against other riders at your level (e.g., Basic, Level 1) who are in your division (i.e., youth-riders 18 and under as of January 1st, Amateur, and Open).
WHAT AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN AND WHEN: Awards will be presented for Introductory, Basic, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 for each division (Youth, Amateur, Open). (No specialty classes, such as Freestyle, WD Equitation, WD Suitability, and WD Hack will be counted toward awards.) Winners are recognized and prizes awarded at our Annual Awards Meeting. Additional Awards may be presented.
A minimum of 5 people participating in the High Point Program is required for the Overall High Point to be awarded. Introductory class points will only be applied toward Open and Amateur Introductory Level awards, not to Overall High Point awards.
AGAIN THIS YEAR: We know everyone is ready to get out, so we are going to be giving additional fun prizes for things like: Silver Spur award (oldest horse and rider team) and most tests submitted. Additional awards may be added throughout the season.
HOW ARE HIGH POINT WINNERS DETERMINED: The High Point Committee will total, and then average the top five scores submitted by each participant from each level and division. The Overall High Point winner is the actual highest score submitted by riders from Basic Level and above.
OTHER DETAILS: The WDACO reserves the right to change these rules at its discretion.
WDACO has no control over the cost of classes, grounds fees, or special fees such as “office” or “processing” fees for non-WDACO shows. Any other costs listed on the show premium are at the discretion of show management and are paid to the show management.
