
Show and Clinic Volunteer Job Descriptions
- Arena Setup – Before the event begins, 5 people needed to help unload and configure the arena.
- Hospitality – Greet participants and volunteers, ensure judges have water and lunch, sell merchandise.
- Gatekeepers – Ensure the correct rider enters the competition arena at the correct time. One gatekeeper will be at the warm-up arena and one at the show arena.
- Equipment Checker – Examine rider’s equipment (bit, spurs, saddle, etc.) to ensure legality. See WDAA Guidelines.
- Scribe – Records judges’ scores and comments on each rider’s test. If software is used instead of paper tests, the scribe must have keyboard/typing skills.
- Test Runners – If paper tests are used, collect tests from the scribe and carry them to the scorer in the Show Office. Do not look at the tests.
- Scorers: Add points on each test and record riders’ total scores.
- Arena Teardown – After a show or clinic, 5 people needed to assist with taking down the dressage arena and loading it onto the trailer.
- Stall Checkers and End of Show Details – Ensure each stall has been completely stripped before the rider leaves, and assist with end-of -event details.
Depending on the event, additional volunteer positions may be available.
